We absolutely love summer in my house! It’s one of our favorite times of the year, but what kid doesn’t love summer, especially when there’s no school. For the past few years we’ve been doing swim lessons at a neighbor’s pool, and we’ve also set up one of those big above ground swimming pools in our backyard too. The kids love it and it’s really nice to be able to go for a dip on a hot day. Since we do lots of swimming, we need lots of swimsuits too.
My daughter loves all kinds of suits and isn’t really picky about what she wears. She sometimes even put them on in winter and it makes me happy to see them all getting used. I also love that I can customize her suits for her since she’s tall and skinny. I don’t have to worry about them being baggy in the bum, or too wide when she really just needs length, not width. For her first suit, I went with the Camila from Made for Mermaids. It’s such a cute one piece suit, and has options for tie shoulders, or even strapless. I made hers with the halter option and used the fuchsia dot to pair with this cute periwinkle floral.
Her second suit turned out so cute with this blossom pink floral. I paired it with the solid plum swim, and I just loved how they complimented each other. The Narwhal pattern from Sofiona Designs has the cutest colorblocking. This pattern is so cute and is really modest too. This pattern also features a one piece option and criss-cross details too.
Finally, I used this gorgeous navy floral for a suit for myself, because who doesn’t need a suit for summer too. This floral paired so well solid navy swim, and I just love how this suit turned out. I used the Bondi Suit pattern from Rebecca Page, and made the bikini version. I love that this pattern also features a tankini option and high waisted shorts bottoms. The shorts are favorite, as I really enjoy feeling more covered on the bottom.
I hope you enjoyed all the suits that I made this year, and have found some inspiration for your swim sewing. Be sure to check out all the other wonderful bloggers this week for the rest of the tour! Also there’s a code for 15% off swim fabrics this week (March 23-March 29) with the code SWIMTOUR
